Hey - Coudal did something similar with The Pixies, and I think Dead Can Dance - except it was sales by CDs. I may be wrong, but I think this is how they got started with their Jewelboxing business - they creating a process/materials that worked for them in making CD/DVDs and sell it to others.

I've been thinking about the need for a simple distribution platform for artists since Radiohead released In Rainbows online last year. I'm sure there are a few companies that offer this, and a handful of companies working on this...that idea is interesting to me.
